Welcome to the web page of Saint Agatha Parish in Sellwood (Portland, Oregon). Please take a moment to become familiar with our parish story and with Saint Agatha's School, a principal ministry of the parish. Today, Saint Agatha parish is blessed by the active participation of many elders who represent multigenerational families in our neighborhood and in our faith community. Likewise, today there are many young families making the Church and School their spiritual home. The Saint Agatha community is creative, vital, and faith-filled. This coming year both the parish and the school will celebrate our centennial. In 1911 the parish and school were founded together and they have grown steadily over the last 100 years. Watch for a calendar of events for the centennial on this web page. We will begin the ten-month celebration (January to October 2011) on January 2 with an inaugural Mass and Lighting Ceremony for the Church bell tower. The lighting of the tower will symbolize our motto and our hope for the parish, A light for the praise of His Glory.
